The Staff of St. Luke Lutheran Church

Pastor Andrew G. Miller

Picture
Pastor Andrew Miller is a lifelong North Carolinian (well, with a little time for education in South Carolina too), having grown up in Matthews, NC.  He grew up in a small mission church, Cross and Crown Lutheran Church, of which he was a charter member.  While in high school, he met his future wife, Jennifer, and they were married shortly after graduating from college in 1999.  He attended the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina and graduated with an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics.  While in college at Charleston, Andrew was a member of, and served as president of the Lutheran Campus Ministry Association.  After graduation and 3 years of life in the business world, Andrew followed a call to ministry and enrolled in the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina.  His four years of theological study took him from the classroom to mission work in Honduras to Chaplaincy at the Lowman Home in White Rock, SC and finally to Boone, NC where he served a year long vicarage serving Grace Lutheran Church.  Upon graduation from seminary in 2006 with a Masters in Divinity, Pastor Andrew accepted the call to serve as pastor for St. Luke Lutheran Church.

"Let me tell you what I love about St. Luke Lutheran," says Pastor Andrew.  "St. Luke Lutheran is a vibrant congregation of devoted Christians who enjoy worshiping together, encouraging one another and living out their shared baptismal call to service and dedication to Christ.  I am honored to be a minister among ministers here at St. Luke and to welcome all into a daily walk with Christ in faith.  Our church is neither small nor large, but I love that I know everyone throughout our church by more than just their name, but also and as a friend and fellow worker in Christ.  We work daily to strengthen our community of faith and to seek God's will.  We're led by the Holy Spirit and where he leads, we seek to follow.  Along the way, we wrestle with sin and brokenness and we stumble from time to time, but we too share in God's forgiveness and grace, as Jesus witnessed to us through his death on the cross and resurrection. Through our baptisms we too share forgiveness and grace with one another.  God's house here at St. Luke is a loving place where you and all people are and will always be welcome to learn about and come to know Christ and find the comfort and peace that only God can and does give to us all."

Along with teaching and ministry, Pastor Andrew is an avid golfer and enjoys tinkering with cars and websites in his free time (although none of these hobbies is he particularly good at, but that doesn't diminish his joy in perusing them. :)

Pastor Andrew and his wife Jennifer have two daughters, Meredith and Emery and a Miniature Dachshund named Sadie too.

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses.                                            1 Corinthians 12: 4-11
